Slowing growing, small beach community with a mix of budget and mid-priced cabinas, more deluxe accommodations in nearby Hacienda Pinilla. Ask to meet the namesake! Some cabinas also offer more traditional Costa Rican fare. | | | | | Distance: | 25 km | | | | | Drive Time: | 45 minutes | | | | | How to Get There: | Exit Playa Grande towards Matapalo and take a right in Matapalo (just past the bridge). Follow this road for about 5-8 minutes until you come to Huacas, take a right at the crossroads (you will see signs for Tamarindo). Follow this road for about 15-18 minutes until it ends. Take a right turn following the signs for Pinilla & Avellanas. A couple of minutes on this road and you will see signs for the turnoff to Avellanas just before the entrance to Hacienda Pinilla. The turnoff is to the left. Follow this rocky road until it ends at the beach. |
