We just returned from Casa Kalumina, and it was, by far, our most amazing experience in Costa Rica. We were a party of 9 (8 adults and 1 child), and the house was the perfect size. Alyssa was so generous in her offerings of what to do, how to get around, and if something needed fixed, she was on top of it right away.
The house is a 1 minute walk across the street to the beach, and we loved having a swimming pool in the front yard of our house when the sun was too intense on the beach.
People drove up to our driveway to offer us fresh fish and shrimp caught that morning, which we grilled at night on the patio grill. It was truly heaven!
I couldn't recommend this place more, and I only hope to be able to return one day!!!!! (Posted by Beth, )
Had a great vacation with the entire family here in January 2010. Couldn't have found a better home; accommodations were exactly as described, Alyssa stocked us with food ahead of time, very close to the beach, good restaurants in the area, & a store around the corner for essentials. Will definitely keep this site & Alyssa on our short list of prime vacation places to stay. Would highly recommend Alyssa as the go-to gal to get the job done for a vacation to remember. We had a fantastic time at the Casa Kalumina in Nov 2008! There were 12 of us (8 adults, 4 children), and the house fit us perfectly...plenty of room for sleeping, grilling, lounging by the pool and relaxing - we definitely recommend it! Alyssa was fantastic, timely and very responsive...she made everything run smoothly for us! All in all, a great vacation and we hope to return soon. (Posted by Renee Majeau, )
Cas Kalumina was perfect. We were a party of five and the house had more than enough room. Alyssa is fantastic and provided many good suggestions on how to get the most of our stay. We all certainly loved the pool and the outdoor living spaces. (Posted by Chris Maughan, )
We just returned from a 2 week holiday at Casa Kulamina. There was a total of 8 of us (4 adults and 4 children). There was ample space and plenty of privacy by using the seperate suite located on the property. Normally we would stay in an all inclusive resort but after staying at Casa Kulamina, we will definitely rent a house again. We enjoyed the pool everyday and body surfing with boogy boards on the beach which was literally a 5 minute walk away was amazing. Upon our arrival all of our food that we had ordered was in our fridge along with some cold cervasas so that we were ready to start our vacation. There was a grocery store called Los Malinches only minutes away. They also had a very cost effective restaurant for breakfast and supper were the food was absolutely excellent and the drinks were nice and cold. Taking your family to the Bula Bula restaurant (6 to 7 minute walk) was also great because they let the kids swim in the pool after lunch or supper. Our property manager Alyssa was absolutely fantastic with organizing a variety of excursions for us all over Costa Rica. She even coordinated our taxi pick up from the airport so that we arrived stress free to the property. Costa Rica is a fabulous Country that everyone should visit. We look forward to our next visit in 2009. Nancy (Posted by Nancy Wiseman, )
Our week at Kalumina in Feb. 08 was a huge success! Everyone in my group of 9 had a great time and really enjoyed the house. The interior layout and patio was perfect for congregating, eating, card playing, accommodating surfboards, etc. The Palm Beach Estates have a great neighborhood feel, and having Malinches mini-super around the corner was extremely convenient for last minute grocery and sunblock needs. And, the beach is truly just a short walk away. Great spot! (Posted by Sue Jackson, )
We celebrated Thanksgiving 2007 by spending a week at Casa Kalumina. It was a family reunion - six adults and 3 kids. The house is large and lovely, with plenty of room and even some privacy! It is quite close to the beach and within 2 minutes of good restaurants and a grocery. The house is furnished very well, and has every amenity. Cooking a Thanksgiving feast for 25 is a daunting task, but Casa Kalumina's kitchens (both indoor and out!) allowed us to make all the fixin's with ease. Alyssa, the property manager, was fabulously attentive and responsive to all our needs. She stopped by on a daily basis to insure that we were happy with everything, and answered a myriad of questions re where we get things, where we could do things, etc. We had a wonderful, wonderful time. And just might be booking soon for Thanksgiving, 2008! (Posted by Evie Renz, )
